Cardinal Tetra problem

I like these beautiful cardinal neon fish but got a problem.
Every time I bought this fish, I listen to the advise given by the shop, like
mix the aquarium water with the fish bag water for a while, Change half of the water in the aquarium before add them into the aquarium but still after 2 or 3 days they start to die. First their tail drop off then they died slowly. What is the problem and how to solve this.

Mollies picking driftwood

I've had a large branch of driftwood for many years and decided to add it to my 55g so after soaking it in a bathtub for a couple of days I added it. It was large enough that it reaches from end to end of my 55 and looks really nice but for some reason my mollies keep picking at it. There shouldn't be any bugs or anything in it as its been indoors for almost 10 years now. Anyone know why they do this?

Bolivian Ram - tattered fins and on the floor

This is a recent re-build of my tank (set up in January 2016). I added a few fish every weekend in Jan and Feb and have currently the fish that are in my signature. I have not added any fish in March

Since I am setting up the plants and don't have many in the tank right now, I got a case of green algae. So I turned off the light during weekend as well as did not add any fish food Friday, Saturday and Sunday

As I was feeding today, I noticed my one Bolivian Ram had a tattered tail and fins and was on the floor not able to swim very well. This Ram has been hiding a lot lately and had picked a favorite hiding spot behind a rock. Since he looked healthy, I did not give too much in to that. The tiger barbs have not bothered the rams since they are in a large number themselves, and the Rams have hold up pretty well against them in the past, if they tried to swipe at the Rams. The Blue Rams are smaller than the Bolivian and don't bother each other. The Rainbow shark gets along fine with everyone.

What could be going on with my Ram ? I just did a 30% water change. I have a feeling the barbs may have swiped on him since there was no food for the last 3 days. Or it is a injury or disease? For what it is worth, I have plenty of hiding places in the tank, just not enough plants yet. Please advice.

What happened to my heater?

I've had this heater installed for about 8 months. This morning when I turned on the light to the tank I noticed it looked a bit hazy. Upon further inspection I noticed a haze on the glass, white particles on my moss ball and a white powder substance inside the heater. I checked the temp and it's normal...What happened? I will replace the heater later today...no fish loss yet...

:fish2: Long time fish lover - back to having tanks after a few years off - took me several years to acclimate to Ohio from FLA! Posted this morning because I have an issue with my heater. Hopefully I'll get some help. Thanks in advance for all the advice I'll be asking for!

Feeding my Betta Black Worms

What are member experiences in feeding the small black worms to a Betta and tropical fish? My pet store said they were good for them and I thought some live food would add a little excitement for my Betta...Needless to say, I've given him 2 (1 per day). He is a ruthless hunter and attacked with lightening speed. I can tell he really liked them but are they good for him? How do I keep them fresh? I've read conflicting opinions on different forums. I don't want to kill my fish giving them something they enjoy. BTW - I dropped one in my fresh tank and the angel sucked it up like spaghetti!

Problems with algae and fish loss

I have a 40 gallon fish only tank with live sand. It is an established tank (well over a year after moving from another location) seems no matter what I do it becomes over grown with green algae and have had no luck keeping fish healthy other than the damsel which has been in there the whole time.

I have a fluval C4 filter and an eshoops hob protein skimmer.
I use RO/DI filtered water for water changes and topping off the tank.
I change about 20% of the water monthly which seems keep my levels low. My nitrates are typically below 20 and ammonia and nitrites are 0.

my bio load is pretty low as I only have a small blue tang and a blue damsel at the moment. I recently lost a yellow tang which wasn't showing any signs of illness and all were eating well.
I was more concerned about the blue tang as he was showing signs of lateral line disease so I removed the carbon from the filter according to advice given to me by my local shop and then added seachem matrix for added bio filtration.

The only area that I ve been lacking was cleaning the gravel and I am wondering if that is the cause of all my tanks issues. I read that not cleaning the gravel can make an "ammonia bomb" causing fish stress /disease and algae blooms.

So would my best course of action be to change the sand out?

Thanks for any advice

Back tank color

I'm contemplating changing the color of my back tank glass. Currently it is black and I want to lighten it up a little. My thought is a very nice very light blue nothing too dark or overpowering.

If you were going to pick a color what color would you choose?!

Open to any suggestions!

I wish I had the artistic ability to slowly fade from light to dark. But I'm not that good lol

Xenia not pulsing

Hey everyone it's been a while since I posted I've added a few corals. I recently got a pulsing blue xenia but it's healthy and fully extending but not pulsing am I missing something or did I get ripped off there also not very blue? I was hopeing to add some movement to the tank and some color but so far I'm at a standstill. Ive switched to pelleted feed to see if that will help with growth of the corals. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it

Breeding Mollie's

$

I am a beginner fish keeper who has only been keeping fish for a little over a year and I recently got some Mollies to add to my tank. Currently I have a male Golden Wonder Killifish(who is kind of a bully but settling in with the other fish), a Black skirt tetra who is about three inches, an Albino Cory, some kind of tetra that will only get three inches, and two what I believe are German Blue Ram Cichlids. I know my Mollies will breed and am interested in that happening. I have researched it online but there is not a lot about breeding them and just giving the babies a lot of hiding spaces to hang out in until they are bigger.

My question is, how do I breed them using that method? And is there anything else anyone can tell me about breeding them because there is not much I can find online.

Can someone help me sex my EBJD ?

I believe I have a male and female EBJD they are almost a year old and a good 6 inches

The whiter one I believe is the male ( he is completely blind)

The other one is in question... But has become aggressive towards The blind one and follows him everywhere all of a sudden... Like hovers over him and occasionally attacks him..... The blind one is Missing some scales on his side and above his nose I'm just not sure if I should pull the blind one out and put him in a separate tank because he has a severe disability or leave it as is.... They are currently in a 60 gallon tall and I purchased them together at a LFS when they were little bitty things

Any help would be awesome
